Saves me a lot of time. I can keep up with podcasts in my field without listening to every episode end to end.
When you submit a podcast link, Podtyper downloads the audio and sends it through state-of-the-art speech-to-text models. The model converts the audio to text with timestamps. A large language model runs a second pass to generate a summary and pull out key topics and quotes. Most episodes are ready in a few minutes.
If the episode is publicly available on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts, Podtyper can transcribe it. No RSS feeds to dig up, no file uploads, no extra steps.
SRT (SubRip Text) is the standard format for video subtitles. VTT (Web Video Text Tracks) is the W3C standard for web captions. Podtyper exports to both, plus PDF and plain text. Need a Spotify episode as a document? See how to export a Spotify podcast transcript as PDF.
Alongside the transcript you get an AI summary, topic tags, the best quotes, and key takeaways. All generated automatically, nothing extra to set up. Want notes from a Spotify episode? See how to create notes from a Spotify podcast.
Podtyper is a podcast transcript generator for published episodes. Paste a public Spotify, YouTube, or Apple Podcasts link and receive a searchable transcript, timestamps, speaker labels, summaries, quotes, and downloadable files.*
According to Edison Research's The Infinite Dial, over 183 million Americans listened to podcasts in 2024. Almost none of that audio is searchable or skimmable without a transcript.
*Speaker labels and timestamps when available.
Prefer German? See our German homepage for the same product overview in Deutsch.
Podtyper is designed specifically for transcribing published podcast URLs into transcripts, without any manual downloading or uploading.

We love podcasts. We also don't have three hours a day to listen to them.
Most episodes bury the actually useful part somewhere in the middle, past the sponsor reads and the small talk. We kept missing things. So we built something that just gives you the text.
One hour saved a week. That's it.
