Terms of Service
Last updated: July 12, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using Podtyper (“the Service”), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms of Service, please do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Podtyper provides podcast transcription services, converting audio content into text format with speaker recognition and AI-generated insights. The Service supports podcast episodes from YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and direct audio URLs.
3. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use Podtyper only for lawful purposes. You may only transcribe:
- Publicly available podcasts and audio content
- Content you own or have explicit permission to transcribe
- Content for personal, educational, or accessibility purposes
- Content that does not violate any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
You may NOT use Podtyper to transcribe:
- Pirated, illegally obtained, or copyrighted content without authorization
- Private or paywalled content without proper authorization
- Content that violates any applicable laws or regulations
- Content for commercial redistribution without proper licensing
- Content containing illegal material
Shareable links: Transcription pages can be accessed by anyone who has the URL. If you copy or share a link to a transcription, the recipient can view that content. You are responsible for who you share links with and for not sharing content you do not have the right to distribute.
Your representations: By submitting a URL for transcription, you represent and warrant that you have the legal right to request transcription of that content and that your use complies with applicable copyright and other laws.
Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Podtyper, its operator, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your submitted content, or your violation of these Terms.
4. Copyright and DMCA Compliance
Podtyper respects the intellectual property rights of others. We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
If you believe that your copyrighted work has been transcribed through our Service in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, please contact us at dmca@podtyper.com with the following information:
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing (transcription ID or URL)
- Your contact information
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate
Upon receiving a valid DMCA takedown notice, we will promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material.
5. User Accounts and Subscriptions
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly and automatically renew unless cancelled through the Stripe billing portal (accessible from your account menu).
Refunds: Subscription fees are non-refundable. If you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period and you will not be charged again. We do not offer prorated refunds for unused time or unused minutes within a billing period. Deleting your account does not entitle you to a refund for any remaining subscription period.
6. Usage Quotas and Limits
Each subscription tier includes a monthly quota of transcription minutes. Unused minutes do not roll over to the next billing period. We reserve the right to adjust quotas and pricing with reasonable notice.
7. Service Availability
While we strive to provide reliable service, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access to Podtyper. The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We may temporarily suspend access for maintenance, updates, or unforeseen issues.
8. Privacy and Data
We collect and process your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Transcriptions are stored securely and associated with your account. Transcription pages are accessible to anyone with the share link — do not share links to content you want to keep private. We do not permanently store audio files after transcription is complete.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service, particularly the Acceptable Use Policy. You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe billing portal.
10. Limitation of Liability
Podtyper and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use or inability to use the Service.
Transcriptions, AI-generated summaries, insights, and other outputs are provided on a best-effort basis using third-party AI services and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing outputs before relying on or publishing them. Podtyper outputs do not constitute professional, legal, medical, financial, or other expert advice.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or through the Service. Continued use of Podtyper after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
